Okay, this came out of nowhere. A new Persona 3 figure? And it’s a figma? And it’s actually GOOD? You could knock me down and All Out attack me right now.

The things that always turned me off of figmas were the ugly joints and awkward plastic stands to keep them in the more fancy positions. It’s true you could have a variety of interesting and hilarious poses to display the character in, but personally I’d rather have a figure with one really nice pose rather than a flexible one that looked awkward and doll-like. Also, they market figmas as “figures” when they’re really just high quality action figures. Action figures are meant to be played with, not posed as works of art (I find the phenomenon of nerds “collecting” action figures and keep them in boxes untouched hilarious, you might as well just buy a nice static one if you’re just displaying them). And I certainly wouldn’t pay the same price for a figma I’ll rough up for a figure I’d display in my place as a work of art.

However, Aegis works surprisingly well as a figma – because she’s a ROBOT. The joints really mesh organically with her design. And her face sculpt is great – the killer app for me when it comes to figures. Hmmm, seriously starting to doubt my former figma convictions . . .

She comes with different faces. This is her “LET US COMMENCE WITH AN ALL-OUT ATTACK” face.

They added the Rocket Punch. Hilarious. It’s always looked like something Buzz Lightyear would wear if he’d became a pirate. It’s perfect for brofists and falcon punches as well.

Also great thing about Aegis figma: she comes with these clear plastic feet that keeps her upright. So you don’t have to have a weird plastic clear crane sprouting out of her back like some robotic tumor.

Aegis figma comes out this year in October. She doesn’t have a set scale, but they say she’s about 150 mm tall. She could be a good match for my 1/10 Main Character. Argh argh decisions.

I’m glad that Persona 3 is still getting love, but seriously we need more quality Persona 4 figures. And throw in some Raidou Kuzunoha ones that AREN’T $100+ garage kits. DO IT FATLUS.
