World’s number one princess, indeed.
Chara Hobby 2008 is a more mecha oriented & family friendly affair, but there were still many impressive figures on display. Also Vocaloid overload (including the world’s creepiest “booth babe” ever). More coverage under the cut!
Let me just start off and say that these booth decorations are AWESOME A+++++. Someone should sponsor a Hatsune Miku “Loituma Girl” balloon in the next Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade, and have it blare “Ievan Polkka” throughout the streets of New York. Then have it Rick Roll everyone on national TV. Okay, that might be going TOO far . . .
Figmas, figures, nendroids . . . is there anyting our princess doesn’t have? (Maybe a KAITO companion? *hinthint*)
Stating the obvious, Len is leaning. Luckily, the sign next to his foot says that the display is a PVC “test sample”. Thank god, because it won’t do good for sales if your figure is leaning before it’s even out of the box.
The Kagamine twins’ figmas are out this October.
Copypasted from the Vocaloid Wikipedia page, since I know next to nil about cars and racing:
Hatsune Miku’s color scheme and image was used by a BMW Z4 from Studie (a tuning shop for BMW), which participated in the GT300 class of the 2008 Super GT season. The car was named “Hatsune Miku Studie Glad BMW Z4″ and had its debut in round six in the Suzuka Circuit.
The Miku “booth babe” . . . and yes, that’s a real person inside. (Can’t tell if it’s male or female . . .) This is a type of cosplay called 着ぐるみ (kigurumi), where you dress up like a mascot with a bodysuit/mask to look “exactly” like an anime character. Personally I think it’s the CREEPIEST SHIT EVER but I guess if you were unfortunate in the face department, or a really manly otaku man who wants to dress up like his favorite lady (which I can definitely relate with, except for me being an Asian girl wanting to dress up something super manly like Kamina or Kenpachi), then I guess you’d go for this? Still: do not want.
Nanoha! ♥ Still have not watched Strikers, and I don’t think I will be for a while because of it’s unsavory reputation. Looking forward to the new movie, though. Nanoha x Fate forever!
Unity Mei from Unity Marriage: Double Bride. She’s a メガネっ娘 (meganekko), but the glasses come off when she transforms. Hopefully there will be a separate pair as an optional part; I love characters with glasses.
A prototype of Sheena Kanon from the PS2 RPG Shining Wind. The game is most notable for character designs by the godly Tony Taka, as well as having the shittiest anime adaptation ever (Shining Tears x Wind). Well, at least the girls are cute and the men are gay.
Alter’s Louise. Nice pose, nice painting, and the face is so cute!
Another shot of Alter’s Swimsuit KOS-MOS. I love the glossiness of her hair, it makes her look inorganic and cyborg-like.
Yami figures from To-Love-Ru. She inherits Ayu’s craving for taiyaki, Kakashi’s habit of reading and ignoring you, and the look and attitue of Eve from Black Cat. Also she’s an assassin yet her name invokes the visage of a certain card obsessed 3,000 year old pharaoh. Well, at least she has nice thighs.
Lala reminds me of Nono from Diebuster a lot, especially in the school uniform with the hair clip. Now all we need is a DEVILUKE KICK!!!!!!!
Two Alter Yoko prototypes due out next year: Yomako-sensei and Bounty Hunter Yoko. The sculpts are very solid and really caputure her character well. And check out the abs on BH Yoko! I find it interesting they’re doing alterate versions of her; I guess they feel her original version is too overdone much like the cosplay of it, ha ha. Still, the original outfit is probably my favorite, because, well, star boobs? Need I say more?
HOSHIT these One Piece figures are so moe~! *_*
A 1/1 scale model of one of Alice’s weapons from Queen’s Blade. You can see the popular Megahouse figure on display in the corner. Considered getting her, but I already have a vastly superior Niθ-designed figure (Max Factory Ignis) and I’m not a fan of Queen’s Blade, so I passed. (Need to save my $$$ for Volks Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann!)
I need sauce for these two handsome fellows . . . (I admit I’m confused by the the Tales of Destiny placard behind them. I don’t remember these two in ToD, so what is the placard referring to? DoH figures off screen? If so, DO WANT.)
Underboob . . . Meer’s looking a lot like Sheryl there. (Am I the only one surprised Seed figures are still being made? Then again, look at Evangelion, ha ha.)
That’s a really well done dress, but physically impossible on an actual human figure considering the floating ribbons and boobs bursting out. But sorry Lacus, there’s another galactic idol princess that’s stealing your thunder these days, and commanding at 15,000 yen price tag isn’t the way to go. Speaking of Miss Nome and Macross . . .
When you become a super popular idol your face will be plasted all over race cars. Or in the case of anime, Hot Wheels. (I’m in stitches over “Listen to my song!!” That girl is so demanding!)
Macross Frontier trading figures. I spy Alto, Ranka, Sheryl, and that white haired dude (can’t remember his name . . .) I know they’re also making Macross F mecha but I’m not interested in the robots unfortunately. (Also, I spy a Kaworu weaseling his way into the frame. XD)
That Kallen is FFFFFFINE, I’ll probably do a separate entry on her later if I’m not lazy. I love me some Kallen. ♥
THIS IS JUST TOO FUNNY AHAHAHA. Nice Zero Helmet, but Cheese-kun . . . man, it’s like a scene out of Lelouch and C.C.’s domestic life:
“Honey, I’m HOOOOOME!!!!” *dramatic flashing and posing as Lelouch bursts through the door*
“. . . oh, it’s you? Welcome back, darling. I ordered pizza for tonight. How was work today?” *C.C. scantily clad draped lazily over the couch*
“Well, nothing special, just some blowing up the Britannian army, getting kidnapped and escaping, taking over China, unveiling my deux ex machina mecha, abusing my Geass-”
“So what are brown hairs doing on your cloak?”
“. . .”
Not a doll person (they weird me out because of the “uncanny valley”, I prefer 2Dish faces), but this Saber doll is really well done. The weathing and sheen on the armor are nice touches, and the sword detail is impeccable, down to the carved runes. I don’t like the bottom lace of the dress, though, and the dress itself could use an ironing, but nevertheless the overall package is fantastic.
Ending my coverage with this gem. M.O.E.~~~~~ ♥
