Alpha Omega is really moving up the ranks in the figurine companies, I remember their Code Geass ones and they were pretty ace. Apparently they go for super popular shows and spend the extra money for their licenses, as opposed to the higher ups like Good Smile Company and Alter who mostly release figures from obscure eroge and games, which have prettier designs and cheaper licensing costs.
Anyway, this is probably the best Sheryl I’ve seen, I remember seeing the prototype a few shows back. I love the removable uniform. The colors really make her beautiful, especially the paint job on her hair. Sheryl has one of my favorite anime hairstyles ever – can’t wait to cosplay her!!
Needs a matching Ranka in her orange-yellow monstrosity though. Even though Sheryl’s my favorite I love Ranka as well, and I hope that they somehow both end up with Alto and have happy lesbian threesomes (c’mon Alto is such a woman, you know the ladies top. ♥)
They’re slowly adding episodes over time (I believe they’re up to episode 10?) but they’re without subtitles. Still I know the plot of original YGO! by heart so for me it’s mostly for 1) Japanese practice, 2) amazing seiyuu + music (I mentally orgasm whenever Tsuda Kenjiro speaks, ffffff), and 3) trying to recognize soundclips that all the the Niconico memes use.
Also hilarious, it’s only available – IN AMERICA. Shame, someone should upload them onto Niconico so MAD makers can have quality sources for their videos.
Shokotan I really kind of love you right now, let’s elope and lick figures together~ ♥
Last year at AX I attended her panel and attended her concert at the Nokia Theater. Luckily I got front row seats from a couple who were leaving, and was right across the aisle from her crazy fanclub members who flew over from Japan to support her so I blended right in ha ha. She’s so cute and quirky in person, I love how she’s not afraid to be herself, and she’s so talented. Also Sora-iro Days (空色デイズ) is one of my favorite GAINAX OP songs EVER. Keep on trucking, Shokotan!
P.S. The post’s title is from one of Ang Lee’s old films, I kind of have his movies on the mind since I went to see him + James Schaumus talk last Monday here at Cal. Total street cred for my folks back home (now if only I can tickets to see the Dalai Lama when he comes in April!) Good semester to be Chinese American at Berkeley.
The 22nd was the “Macross: The Super Dimension Space Launching Ceremony ~It’s Really 2009 Already…It’s 2/22 (Nyan Nyan Nyan), Deculture!~” event (wow what a mouthful), celebrating the exact date when the first original Macross anime series begins, supposedly February 22, 2009. It kind of reminds me of when “Second Impact” occurred on September 13, 2000, and all the Evangelion fanboys were celebrating in Akihabara. Man, we are dorks.
Anyway, at the event they had some awesome Macross Frontier figures that made me explode. I’m not into mecha, so these lovely ladies definitely caught my eye!
Not sure what’s up with Sheryl’s color inaccurate sparkly skirt, and I’m pretty sure Ranka’s shoes are red . . . but holy crap Klan looks amazing. ♥__♥ And the sculpts are great, loving the poses and faces. Hope they come out soon!
She has already been out since December, but there hasn’t been many preorders because I believe she’s exclusive to atlus “D” shop. There actually two versions: one with her default fan weapon and the other with her special weapon (the one you receive when you redo her dungeon and defeat her optional boss.) I prefer the special of course – peacock feathers!
More photos under the cut, including ones with her glasses! (Also there are spoilers for P4, so read at your own risk!)
I’m on Twitter! Updates will show up on the sidebar under the aptly named ‘STALKER ALERT’. It’s partly so I can play around with new technology and partly to prove that I live even if I don’t update the blog. It’s hard to update consistently, since you run out of interesting things to write about! And I usually don’t like writing trivial entries for the sake of filling up space. (That’s . . . what I assume Twitter is for. To get out all that brain fart. Kind of like Pensive in Harry Potter, huh.)
Also, I’ve put up some affiliate ads into the sidebar, so go check them out! There’s no point in me showcasing awesome figures if I can’t tell you where to get them. If you’re interested in affiliating/banner exchange, drop me a comment on an entry any time with your website + email. The figure community is niche but dedicated, so if we connect together we can all benefit. ♥
Once school quiets down I’m going to get around reviewing the backlog of figures I’ve gotten lately. Or play more video games. PER-SO-NA!!
Saber has a new costume in the new Fate PS2 game, which is way cooler and prettier than her default outfit. Japan agrees and a million figures are coming out as we speak. The mother of them all has just dropped, and for about $100 it can be yours! More photos below.
Her voice sample is Asakawa Yuu (whom I love for doing Love Hina’s Motoko and Azumanga Daioh’s Sakaki), and Luka’s voice is billed as being “cool” and “husky”. Also she can apparently sing in English as well! (We’ll see about that, hmmm.) It amuses me that she’s 20 years old because 1) she’s about my age, and 2) that’s considered “older” in the animu world lol. 16 is like the prime, sob sob.
She seems like the cool, onee-san type. Wonder what her fandom personality will be? I imagine her to be a yankee banchou with a soft spot for her Vocaloid siblings/cute things (channeling Sakaki much?). She’d also make an awesome tsundere, yum. Miku would get jealous of her because she’s another rival for Kaito, lollll. Don’t worry Miku, you’re still my favorite! ♥
